Letters to the Editor: Use of poison gas is toxic military tactic

We see how people can be killed because of ethnicity or religion. We see the global rise of strongmen heads of state and supremacism.
The League of Nations helped stop to some degree the spread of poison gas weapons but it couldn’t stop poison gas being used against defenders in Abyssinia (Ethiopia) by troops directed by Italy’s fascist dictator Mussolini and Churchill suggested use of mustard gas on fighters in the north-west frontier, as it was understood in Raj India, by the RAF which spent about quarter of a century making bombing runs over that region. That latter suggestion calls to mind the use of drones in the last twenty years in the same region and adjacent.
