Very different worlds

It may not always be appropriate or even worthwhile to compare events unfolding in different arenas, especially if those events highlight different cultures. Nevertheless, fate sometimes offers an opportunity to contrast events in a way that is as challenging as they are revealing. This is such a moment.

Ryanair has gone to the High Court to stop a former employee joining a rival because, the airline contends, that employee agreed not to work for any competitor for 12 months when he accepted share options in 2018. Ryanair is prepared to fight to protect what it sees as its interests. The court will rule in the issue in due course.
