Cyber savvy shopping

Like other notable celebratory days on the calendar, Black Friday has now morphed into a full weekend, culminating in Cyber Monday, with retailers encouraging shoppers to take to the high street on the Friday and go online on Monday.

Cyber savvy shopping

While the bah-humbug brigade might prefer to embrace Buy Nothing Day and join a protest against consumerism that started life in Canada in 1992, most of us will take the opportunity to get some early Christmas shopping done, before the buying frenzy emerges closer to the festive season.

Shopping — either in brick and mortar stores — or online, can be fun, as long as you keep your wits about you. There are pickpockets in shops, but even more online.

As internet security experts advise, it is essential to ensure you are buying from a reputable retailer and only click the laptop ‘buy’ button if you are completely satisfied.

Just as you might guard a wallet or handbag from prying eyes in the shopping centre, boutique, or department store, it is just as important to be cyber savvy so that your online shopping experience remains an enjoyable one.
