SPICER by name and spicey by nature. The departure of Sean Spicer, Donald Trump’s loquacious press secretary, has robbed the US president of one of the most high-profile members of his frontline staff. 

It has robbed the rest of us of a lot of laughter, especially those mesmerised by the Trump White House.

In his short six months in the job, Mr Spicer’s press briefings became the stuff of comedic lore and weekend television send-ups. His often bizarre statements lit up the internet and set Twitter ablaze. When uncomfortable truths didn’t work for him, Mr Spicer took to using ‘alternative facts’.
