He has been leader of Fine Gael since the summer of 2002 and has been Taoiseach since March 9, 2011.

Next Wednesday, should he survive until then — and as things stand there is no reason to think he won’t — he will become the longest-serving Fine Gael Taoiseach in history, surpassing John A Costello.
