Political correctness gone mad - Eggstremism
Donald Trump exploited the excesses of political correctness to get to the White House; he attacked the phenomena with a vigour that won considerable support among those who are inclined to say what’s on their mind, even if others might find that directness challenging.
That said, political correctness was developed as a shield against ignorance and boorishness but, tragically, it has evolved into a kind of tyranny of its own.
No one dies anymore; they pass.
The most challenging life circumstances are now described with an almost pastel vocabulary that might change perceptions, but do nothing to change reality.
University students, the little darlings, are mother-goosed away from views that might not concur with their half-formed opinions.
‘Happy Christmas’ is ‘Happy Holiday’, just in case someone finds its Christian origins more offensive than its dreadful materialism.
That preposterousness has found a new victim — the word ‘Easter’ has been dropped from a Cadbury and National Trust egg hunt in Britain.
This is the kind of crass, deep stupidity that encourages rather than neutralises extremism.
