Hovione contract manufacturing plant in Cork has a unique combination of capacity and high quality professionals

The Hovione Cork site was acquired in 2009. The site currently employs around 165 highly qualified professionals that deliver high levels of customer service.

The focus of this plant is Contract Manufacturing, offering both drug substance and drug product intermediate regulated by the FDA and the Health Products Regulatory Authority.

The site has extensive facilities for drug substance manufacturing with around 430 cubic metres of state-of-the-art current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) capacity and the potential for 12 discrete process trains. The largest commercial pharmaceutical spray dryer available on the market, a Niro PSD-5, that is particularly suited for large volume products is also housed on the site.

Hovione has more than 50 years of experience in the development and compliant manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and Drug Product Intermediates. With four FDA-inspected sites in the US, China, Ireland and Portugal, Hovione focuses on the most demanding customers, in the most regulated markets. In the last five years, Hovione has stood behind one to two NDA approvals each year, and its DMFs and CEPs are referenced in dozens of ANDAs and marketing authorization that are approved each year.
