Mr Martin said Ireland's focus over the next number of years will be ramping up production of offshore wind energy, because emerging technology like AI will be energy-intensive.

Artificial intelligence (AI) will create demands on Ireland's energy system, the Taoiseach has said.

Speaking in New York this week, Micheál Martin said the demands of AI mean that Ireland needs to intensify efforts to scale up production of energy at home.
