Doctors, scientists and autistic people in Ireland and globally have criticised US president Donald Trump’s unfounded claims that paracetamol causes autismin children.

Mr Trump claimed that pregnant women should limit their use of acetaminophen — usually branded as Tylenol in the US or paracetamol elsewhere — because it increases the risk of autism in children.
