Taoiseach and Jim Gavin distance themselves from Michael D Higgins' Israel comments

The president had called for Israel to be excluded from the United Nations

Taoiseach Micheál Martin and presidential hopeful Jim Gavin have distanced themselves from comments made by President Michael D Higgins calling for Israel to be excluded from the United Nations.

Mr Martin said it would be a “huge step” to expel somebody and Ireland and Europe were focused on pressuring the Israeli government to stop its genocide in Gaza.
