MEP Barry Cowen recovering in hospital after weekend 'health scare'

Fianna Fáil MEP thanks hospital staff and says he’ll continue constituency duties during home recovery

Fianna Fáil MEP Barry Cowen has confirmed that he is recovering in the cardiac unit of St James’s Hospital in Dublin after experiencing a "health scare" over the weekend.

In a statement, Mr Cowen said he felt unwell in Strasbourg last week, with his symptoms persisting after he returned home to Ireland. He then attended the emergency department of Tullamore Hospital on Saturday, and was transferred to St James’s the following day.
