Politicians respecting each other ‘the best armour’ for democracy, says minister

Aggression and threats cannot be allowed to stop politicians canvassing, a Fianna Fáil TD has said.

Speaking following an incident over the weekend which saw Green Party leader Roderic O'Gorman allegedly assaulted while out canvassing, Thomas Byrne said that canvassing is part of the democratic process in Ireland.
