Former head of the Strategic Comms Unit nominated to be Ambassador to Canada

Since joining the Department of Foreign Affairs, he has been responsible for the Global Ireland project which aims to double the country's presence worldwide footprint by 2025 and oversaw a number of events during the Taoiseach's visit to Washington DC this year.

The Government has approved the nomination of former head of the Strategic Comms Unit to be Ambassador to Canada and Antigua & Barbuda, Jamaica and The Bahamas.

John Concannon is currently the Director General of the Global Irish Division at the Department of Foreign Affairs, having taken up a job with the University of Galway.
