President Michael D Higgins has asked the Supreme Court to decide whether a Bill set to introduce a new system to appoint judges is constitutional.

As earlier reported be the Irish Examiner, the President has decided to refer the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill 2022 to the Supreme Court "for a decision on the question as to whether the Bill is repugnant to the Constitution or to any provision thereof".
