Lee Reeves has been transferred to University Hospital Limerick (UHL) to be closer to his family following a major operation.
The 31-year-old boxer, from Roxboro, was stretchered from the ring after a bout on August 1 and taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was placed in an induced coma.
He was later transferred to the Mater Hospital, where he remained in intensive care.
Mr Reeves’ friend and former coach, Jonathan O’Brien, has been sharing updates on behalf of the family.
Mr O’Brien previously told the that Mr Reeves had been awaiting a cranioplasty, a procedure to repair the section of skull removed during his initial surgery. The operation had been postponed for several weeks before taking place at the Mater Hospital.
Mr Reeves has now been transferred to UHL, where his family remains by his side. He has not yet regained consciousness.
A number of fundraising events have been held to support the young boxer and help his family with mounting medical expenses.
Ella has spent 30 consecutive days running to raise funds for Mr Reeves, completing a challenge to run 5km every day.
She has now completed the challenge, covering a total of 150km to encourage people to keep Mr Reeves in their prayers.
“Tough times don’t last, but tough people do” is a phrase often used by the young boxer and one that has kept Ella motivated.
“I’m doing this for the right cause, for the right man,” Ella said in her latest video documenting the challenge.
More than €120,000 has been raised for Mr Reeves through GoFundMe.
