Gardaí appeal for witnesses following fatal collision involving car and bus in Waterford

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision involving a bus and a car that occurred in Waterford on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred shortly before 8pm on the N25 between Youghal and Dungarvan at Kinsalebeg. 

The driver of the car, a man in his mid 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A garda spokesperson said all occupants of the bus were medically assessed at the scene and no serious injuries were reported.

The road was closed to allow for a technical examination by garda forensic collision investigators but has since fully reopened. 

The coroner has been notified and an autopsy will be arranged.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. 

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the N25 between Grange and Pilltown Cross between 7:30pm and 8pm are asked to make this footage available to the investigating gardaí.

The collision in Waterford was one of four separate fatal collisions in the country on Sunday. 

A motorcyclist in his 50s also died in a crash in Wexford, a man in his 20s was killed in a car crash in Limerick and another man aged in his 50s died in a car crash in Meath on a deadly day on Irish roads.
