The two people arrested in connection with the roadside attack on Scarlett Faulkner have been charged.

A woman in her 40s and a juvenile in her teens were both arrested after the serious assault which occurred on the R494 road outside Birdhill village, Co Tipperary, at about 5.30pm last Saturday.

Ms Faulkner, aged 29, suffered serious head injuries as a result of the attack, and remains in critical condition at CUH.

The arrested individuals are expected to appear before a special sitting of Limerick District Court today, Saturday 28th March 2026, at approximately 5pm.

Investigations remain ongoing.

Ms Faulkner is the mother of a six-year-old daughter.

A relative said she had suffered a very serious brain injury, In a video shared on social media, the partner of Scarlett's brother, Josephine (Joanne) Duffy, said the family were awaiting results of a brain scan.

"The doctors will speak to her parents with the results of the brain scan and what will be next," she said.

Ms Duffy added: "They're hoping for the best, they got bad news. They're praying, they want a miracle."

She added the family is "very appreciative" of the messages of support and prayers.

She also appealed for people to not post pictures of videos of the incident, which are “distressing for the family to see”.
