Investigations are under way after several vehicles were set on fire in Ennis, Co Clare, on Monday.

Gardaí and fire services attended the scene of the incident at about 5.20am outside commercial premises on Quin Road.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Examiner they attended the scene following a "report of an incident of criminal damage by fire".

"A number of vehicles are reported as damaged," they added.

Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service also responded to the incident. 

The scene was preserved for a technical examination, as members of the Divisional Crime Scene Investigation Unit attended the scene.
