‘Fantastic day’ as Fota Wildlife Park reopens following bird flu crisis

Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity, Christopher O'Sullivan TD (centre), visited Fota Wildlife Park to celebrate the Park’s reopening, joined by Aileen Tennant, Park Director; Richard Healy, Chair of the Board of Governors of Fota Wildlife Park; and Board Governors, Dr Sarah Culloty, Simon Coveney, Jim Woulfe, and Paul O'Connell, at the event.

Fota Wildlife Park has reopened to the public after a 10-week closure due to an outbreak of avian influenza (bird flu).

All birds in Fota Wildlife Park’s population have been tested twice for avian influenza, with all results returning negative. The park will continue to maintain its enhanced biosecurity measures and monitoring protocols.
