A status yellow rain warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry from Sunday into Monday, with Met Éireann predicting localised flooding in both counties.
The forecaster says Cork and Kerry will see "persistent rain" that may turn heavy, leading to localised flooding and difficult travel conditions from Sunday afternoon.
The warning runs from 2pm Sunday until 9am Monday.
As for the general outlook:
Met Éireann says cloudy conditions with sunny spells on Saturday morning will clear by early afternoon, giving way to sunshine and the occasional shower following from the northwest.
However, scattered showers will develop in the west and northwest after dark.
Daytime temperatures today will range from 6C to 9C in moderate north to northwest winds, becoming fresher near eastern coasts.
Saturday night will be cold and mostly clear with some showers, mainly in the north and west early on.
Overnight temperatures will fall to between -2C and 2C, leading to the possibility of frost and ice in some areas.
Sunday is forecast to start dry and bright, though cloud will build from the west with rain moving into the west and southwest in the early afternoon, extending eastwards by early evening as southerly winds increase to fresh or strong.
It will be cold again, with temperatures ranging from 4C to 8C.
On Sunday night, rain will clear eastwards as southerly winds ease, leading to some clear spells and showers, particularly in the north and west. After a brief reprieve in Munster and south Leinster, another spell of rain will move up from the south.
Temperatures will range from 5C to 9C.
Met Éireann says that while there is some uncertainty in Monday’s forecast, indications are that rain will extend northwards through the morning, turning heavy at times. It will also likely be quite windy.
Monday afternoon temperatures will range from 7C to 11C.
