Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward

A teenager was in a critical condition in hospital on Monday morning following a collision in Waterford city.

The 18-year-old was riding an e-bike when it collided with a car on Cork Road in Waterford shortly before 8pm on Sunday night.

The crash scene remained sealed off on Monday morning to allow for a forensic investigation.

Gardaí said on Monday that the injured teen was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford with serious injuries following the collision and described his condition as “critical”.

The driver of the car was assessed at the scene and did not require hospital attention.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with camera footage, including motorists with dash-cam footage from the area at the time, is asked to provide it to investigating gardaí.
