Watch: Traffic disruption in Cork City as truck overturns near Elysian building
A truck carrying a cargo of steel overturned near the Elysian building in Cork City on Thursday morning causing major traffic disruption.
Emergency services personnel were alerted to the accident at approximately 9.20am when the truck rounded the bend from Eglington St on to Albert St and turned on its side on the footpath just outside Aldi supermarket.
Members of An Garda Síochána and Cork City Fire Brigade arrived at the scene a short time later.

Cork City Fire Brigade Second Officer Victor Shine told the that the incident did not result in any serious injuries.
“The driver is being checked out as a precautionary measure, but there doesn't appear to be any serious injuries involved," he said.
Mr Shine said that emergency services personnel were now waiting for a crane to attend the scene and “rewrite the truck and get it moved away”.
Traffic on Albert Street is currently down to one lane as a result of the accident, with heavy tailbacks reported in the wider area.
A garda spokesperson told the that "traffic management" is now in place in the area.

"No injuries have been reported," the spokesperson said.
"No further information is available at this time."
