Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly was confronted in Limerick city on Saturday afternoon by teacher Enoch Burke.

Ms Connolly was canvassing on Bedford Row in the city centre with several supporters.

In videos circulating on social media, and published by the Limerick Leader, Mr Burke can be heard referring to “gender ideology.”

He can also be heard saying, “You can’t say that, Catherine,” and making reference to religious freedom and beliefs, amid loud shouts from the gathered crowd.

In the video, Ms Connolly is seen nodding before moving through the crowd.

She later addressed those present.

Ms Connolly has been contacted for comment.
