The funeral of Barry Daly, who died after being attacked outside his north Cork home, will take place on Saturday.

One man and two juveniles have been charged with his murder following the death of the popular postman and father of four.

Mr Daly was pronounced dead outside his home at Rockview Terrace in Doneraile in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Newtwopothouse native had worked for An Post for more than eight years, serving as a postman in Mallow town.

He is survived by his partner, four children, parents, and three sisters.

On Friday evening, his grieving family will gather at O’Keeffe’s Funeral Home in Buttevant from 5pm to 7pm, where Mr Daly will lie in repose.

His remains will then be brought to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Doneraile.

The funeral Mass will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, followed by burial in Oldcourt Cemetery, Doneraile.

A statement issued by An Post following his death said: “The CEO and all An Post staff, particularly the team at Mallow Delivery Unit, are deeply shocked and saddened at the untimely death of our colleague, Barry Daly. We offer our deepest sympathy to Barry’s family. May he rest in peace.”
