Two charged as man hospitalised after violent assault in Tipperary

Two men have been charged in relation to the serious assault of a man in his 40s in Tipperary. 

Gardaí responded to reports of a serious assault shortly after 9pm on Saturday in Knockane, Co Tipperary on Saturday evening.

After receiving treatment at the scene, the man was taken by ambulance to CUH.

It is understood the man suffered severe burns after a suspected petrol attack.

Two men aged in their 20s have been arrested in connection with this investigation.

They are being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in Tipperary.

They have both been charged and are expected to appear before Dungarvan District Court this Monday morning.

A garda spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing.
