Thunderstorms and hail forecast for Munster as autumn weather takes hold

If you need another sign that summer has ended, step outside and feel the colder, darker mornings.
Over the weekend, temperatures could drop to as low as 5C overnight.
Daytime temperatures will hold steady at around 13C to 16C for now.
According to Met Éireann, today will be cool and breezy with sunshine and showers, with possible hail or thunder.
In the late afternoon, persistent rain will develop in the west and spread eastward through the evening.
Tonight, conditions will be clearer and drier, but scattered heavy showers will move in again from the Atlantic overnight.
Munster is expecting a wet weekend, with persistent rain throughout Saturday and Sunday.
The southwest will face thunderstorms and hail, while the rest of the province can expect unsettled conditions.
Saturday will bring scattered showers, with possible hail and thunder, which will gradually ease as the day goes on.
It’s not all doom and gloom, however. Met Éireann expects some sunshine between showers on Saturday.
Saturday night will be drier, but rain will return to the southwest later. Temperatures could fall to 7C.
On Sunday, conditions will remain unsettled.
