Status yellow rain and thunderstorm warnings in place for 10 counties
The warning came into effect at 1.15pm and will remain in place until 6pm.
Cork is among six counties in the south and southeast facing a status yellow thunderstorm warning this afternoon, as unsettled weather continues to bring the risk of localised flooding and hazardous travel conditions.
Met Éireann has issued a thunderstorm alert for Cork, Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow and Wexford, warning of a moderate chance of thunderstorms developing.Â
The warning came into effect at 1.15pm and will remain in place until 6pm.
The forecaster said possible impacts include poor visibility, dangerous driving conditions, and localised surface flooding.
Separately, a status yellow rainfall warning is also in place for Dublin, Louth, Meath and Wicklow. That alert began at 9.35am and will remain active until 8pm.Â
Met Éireann is warning of heavy downpours that may also lead to localised flooding and difficult travel.
Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, the UK Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Antrim, Armagh and Down, which also runs until 6pm.Â
The alert warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms that may cause disruption.
