Man, 20s, in serious condition after being found unresponsive in Cork City

Gardaí at the scene where a man was found unresponsive in Cork City on Monday. 

A man is in serious condition in hospital after he was found unresponsive in the early hours of Monday in Cork City. 

Gardaí said the man, who is in his 20s, was found on Winthrop Street shortly before 12.30am. 

He was rushed to Cork University Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition. 

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the surrounding area of Winthrop St and St Patrick's Street between 12am and 1am are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021 452 2000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

"Investigations are ongoing," a garda spokesperson said.
