Tributes to Limerick crash victim David Brooke O’Carroll

The young Limerick man who lost his life following a road crash on Monday has been named as David Brooke O’Carroll.

The 23-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision with a car at the intersection of R521 and R523 in Ardagh village. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the car was transferred to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of non-life-threatening injury.

Originally from Shanagolden, Mr O’Carroll, who was affectionately known as ‘Lemon’ has been remembered by family and friends as someone who filled lives “with laughter and love”.

“My deepest sympathies to the O’Carroll and Moroney family on the loss of David. It is heartbreaking so many fond memories of you being ever present growing up in our lives just filled with laughter and love. 

"You will always hold a very special place in our heart David (Lemon) you will never be forgotten and a light will always shine bright upon your soul. Rest in eternal heavenly peace,”  a friend paid in tribute.

The staff at Foley Windows and Doors in Kilmallock, where Mr O’Carroll worked, also paid tribute.

“Due to the tragic passing of our friend and work colleague, David, we will be closed for the week. 

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, partner, and friends. You will be hugely missed. RIP,” they wrote in tribute on social media.

Mr Carroll will be reposing at St Senan’s Church, Shanagolden this Thursday evening, from 5pm to 7pm.

Requiem Mass will take place in St Senan’s Church, Shanagolden on Friday at noon and will be live-streamed for anyone who cannot attend, and followed by burial in Shanagolden cemetery.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage including dashcam and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
