Raymond Davern still laughs at the memory of being handed a basin and sponge to clean his grandmother’s shop window as a little boy who had big dreams for the future.

It seems that not much has changed since those idyllic days. Even today, as the owner of Davern's clothing store in Cashel - who has put his shop up for sale in its 100th year in business - can be seen sweeping and collecting litter near his shop front.
