The Farranree-based soccer club had to take to social media on Sunday to highlight the damage to the pitch, posting photographs showing large, deep, tyre marks and furrows criss-crossing the pitch.

A soccer club on the northside of Cork City has pleaded for action after its pitch was destroyed by scrambler bikes.

Volunteers with Blackstone FC in Fairhill have written to the TDs in Cork north central urging them to tackle the issue once and for all after their home pitch at the Fairfield, in Farranree, was cut up beyond use over the weekend.
