Man hospitalised with 'serious injuries' following alleged assault in Cork

The assault took place near a bus stop which is located a short distance away from the local Garda station

A forensic and technical examination of the scene is being carried out. Gardai will also harvest CCTV footage from the vicinity.

Gardaí in Cork have launched an investigation following an assault in Mayfield on the northside of the city which has led to the hospitalisation of a man with serious injuries.

The man was attacked on Colmcille Avenue, between the Old Youghal Road and Middle Glanmire Road, at around 4pm on Wednesday.
