Man, 70s, dies following house fire in Cork City
A fire brigade at the scene of a house fire near Cork City.
A man in his 70s has died following a house fire in Cork City on Wednesday.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the fire at a residence in Grange on the south side of the city at approximately 10.40am.
It is understood the man was alone in the house when the fire occurred.
His body was later removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a fire at a residence in Douglas, Cork.
Three units of the Cork City Fire Brigade attended the scene.
The scene was preserved and a technical examination later took place, a Garda spokesperson said.
