Gardaí investigating as body of man, 50s, discovered in Youghal

Gardaí say they are investigating "all the circumstances" surrounding the discovery of the body of a man in Youghal on Wednesday. 

The man's body was discovered on a bench at College Gardens, Emmet Place at approximately 9am today.

The deceased was in his 50s and was from Youghal.

It is understood that he was known to gardaí.

The Coroner has been notified and the body has since been removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital (CUH), where an autopsy will take place at a later date. 

A spokesperson told the Irish Examiner that the autopsy results will determine the course of the garda investigation.
