An out-of-hours GP service in Cork and Kerry has been ordered to pay over €15,600 in compensation to a former receptionist over its failure to follow fair procedures in sacking her.

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ruled that there was a repeated and serious failure by Southwest Doctors on Call to apply fair procedures in the manner in which it had dismissed the receptionist, Karen Doherty.
