The family of a Cork man who died after a medical incident on MacCurtain Street on Tuesday have asked the public for assistance in finding his lost phone.
Kieran O'Donovan got into difficulty at the bottom of York Street after parking his car nearby. It is understood he suffered cardiac arrest as he had recently been battling complications from heart surgery.
He had reached out for help in a nearby apartment block with an open door, where a woman started CPR. Despite the efforts of emergency services, who attended the scene, Mr O'Donovan passed away at 5.45pm on Tuesday in CUH.
Mr O'Donovan's daughter, Karen, said the family are now appealing to the public to help find his phone. She said they know it was with him when he got into distress as it was linked to his watch.
Gardaí told them that the phone was not with him when they arrived at the scene.
Ms O'Donovan said they want the phone back as it holds huge sentimental value for the family.
"Now the problem is his phone is missing, which had his bank cards but which we don't care about right now. We just want his phone back because it has everything. All the pictures of the grandchildren, everything was in his phone," she told The Opinion Line on 96FM.
They believe the phone could have been anywhere from the bottom of York Street up as far as the post office on MacCurtain Street.
Ms O'Donovan said the phone, an iPhone, had a navy case. She said they would be grateful if anyone has the phone or if anyone had information about it.
