Investigation in Waterford after woman's body discovered on Tramore Beach

Gardaí are carrying out an investigation after the body of a woman was discovered on Tramore Beach, Co Waterford, on Monday morning. 

It is believed the body washed ashore having been in the water, with the discovery being made at around 7am.

The body was discovered by someone out walking and emergency services were then tasked to the scene.

Gardaí said they are investigating all of the circumstances following the discovery. The woman's body has been removed from the scene and the local Coroner has been notified.

A spokesperson said examinations and local enquiries will determine the course of Garda investigations.
