Man, 30s, hospitalised with serious injuries after assault in Cobh

A man in his 30s has been hospitalised with serious injuries following an assault in east Cork on Friday night.

Gardaí were at the scene of an incident that occurred at approximately 8pm on Friday on the Newtown Rd in Cobh.

"A man in his 30s was assaulted and he is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries at Cork University Hospital," a statement from gardaí said.

The scene was preserved for technical examination.

An investigation is ongoing.
