Man arrested after seizure of over €62,000 cash in Co Cork

A man has been arrested following the seizure of over €62,000 in cash in County Cork, as part of ongoing investigations into the sale and distribution of controlled drugs and associated criminal activities.
Gardaí from the Midleton District Drug Unit, assisted by local Garda Units from Cobh, Midleton, and Fermoy carried out a search at a home in Cobh.
A substantial amount of cash amounting to €62,800 and a high-powered car were seized.
A man in his late 30s was arrested at the scene.
He is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda Station in County Cork.
He can be held for up to seven days.
Separately, a second residence in the Cobh area was also searched.
Gardaí seized €3,500 worth of suspected cocaine, 180 rounds of ammunition, an ammunition press, incapacitant OC spray, and drug-related paraphernalia.
"All seized items are subject to forensic analysis and examination," a garda spokesperson said.
"Investigations are ongoing."
