Man, 60s, arrested in connection with fatal assault at Kerry cemetery 

Thomas Dooley, from Killarney, suffered fatal stab wounds in Rathass cemetery in Tralee in October 2022 while attending a burial at the graveyard. 

A man in his 60s has been arrested in connection with a fatal assault in Rathass Cemetery, Tralee last year.

The man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Kerry.

Thomas Dooley, from Killarney, suffered fatal stab wounds in Rathass cemetery in Tralee in October 2022 while attending a burial at the graveyard. His wife, Siobhan, was also injured in the incident.

A spokesperson said the man was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance personnel and his body was taken to University Hospital Kerry.

"Investigations are ongoing," gardaí said.

A number of people have previously been charged in relation to the incident.
