His funeral will take place on Saturday in Milford.

Condolences have rolled in from those who knew him, with one person writing: "There was always fun and laughter when he was around. A pure gentleman."

Another said "Thomas was a great character and above all an absolute gentleman gone to heavens hallowed halls much too soon."

Mr Geary was an engineer and worked at BCD engineering in Cork

In a post on social media they said: “Deepest sympathy to all the Geary and Murphy families and friends on the passing of Thomas. May he rest in peace Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h'anam dílis.”

His funeral takes place at Church of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Milford in County Cork on Saturday with burial afterwards in Dromcollogher cemetery.
