An East Cork garage owner has defended charging stranded motorists to bring them across the flooded Castlemartyr bridge at the height of Storm Babet.

There has been anger among some locals in the village at what they perceived to be profiteering by the business as it transported fear-struck motorists, with others rallying around to help voluntarily.
