Man, 50s, killed in Tipperary crash

A man in his 50s has been killed in a crash involving a car and a truck in Co Tipperary.
Gardaí say they are investigating the collision, which occurred at approximately 12.05pm on the N62 at Whitefields in Templemore.
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 50s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was fatally injured in the crash.
His body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where an autopsy will take place in due course.
The truck driver, a man also aged in his 50s, was uninjured.
The N62 at Whitefields remains closed this evening, and local diversions have been put in place.
A garda spokesperson said that a technical examination of the scene will be carried out by forensic collision investigators on Tuesday morning.
Investigating gardaí in Thurles have issued an appeal for witnesses.
Any road users with camera footage and who were travelling on the road in question between midday and 12.30pm have been asked to make this available.

The latest fatality brings to 150 the number of people who have lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year. As of this point in 2022, there had been 115 road deaths.
Five people were killed in separate collisions in Kerry, Roscommon, Limerick, Louth, and Waterford over the weekend.
