More carnage on Irish roads as five die in separate weekend collisions
 
 The latest collisions bring the number of deaths on Irish roads this year to 149. Up to October 13 last year, there were only 115 road deaths
Five people have died in separate collisions since Friday in another weekend of carnage on Irish roads.
Gardaí announced on Sunday that two motorcyclists had been killed in separate collisions in Kerry and Roscommon. Three other men died in road traffic incidents in Limerick, Louth and Waterford over the weekend.
The latest collisions bring the number of deaths on Irish roads this year to 149. Up to October 13 last year, there were only 115 road deaths.
In Waterford, a man in his 70s died following a collision involving a trike, that occurred at Chapel Road, Stradbally at approximately midday on Sunday.
The driver of the trike was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The scene of the collision is preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The road is currently closed. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí in Tramore are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who were travelling in the area of Chapel Road, Stradbally, Co. Waterford between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Sunday 15th October 2023, and who may have camera/ dash-cam footage , are asked to make this available to Gardaí.

In Kerry, a man in his 40s died following a crash involving a motorcycle and a van, which occurred at Moyvane North, Listowel at approximately 7pm on Saturday.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the van, a man in his 70s, was taken to University Hospital Kerry. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening at the time.
The scene of the collision is preserved while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination. The road is currently closed.
Gardaí in Listowel are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
Any road users who were travelling in the area of Moyvane North, Listowel, Co Kerry, between 6.15pm and 7.15pm on Saturday and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make this available to gardaí.

In Roscommon, a man in his 30s died following a collision that occurred on the R357 Ballinasloe to Shannonbridge Road, at Cloneish on Saturday at approximately 5.15pm.
The collision involved a car and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was taken to Ballinasaloe Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. No other injuries have been reported.
The R357 Ballinasloe to Shannonbridge Road remains closed on Sunday morning while a technical examination by forensic investigators is conducted. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them.
Any road users who were travelling on the road between the hours of 4.45pm and 5.30pm and has camera footage (including dash-cam), is asked to make this available to gardaí.

On Friday night, a 21-year old pedestrian was killed in a collision in Limerick. He has been named locally as Joe Drennan, a native of Mountrath in Co Laois.
