Driver who attempted 'seven point turn' at checkpoint arrested by gardaí

A driver who tried to do what gardaí described as "a seven-point turn" at a Laois checkpoint was arrested and charged to appear in court.

The motorist proved to be disqualified from driving when pulled in by gardaí in Borris-in-Ossory.

The car was seized and the motorist was charged to appear at Portlaoise District Court.

In a social media post, An Garda Síochána Laois/Offaly said: "Nothing says 'I'm completely innocent' quite like attempting a seven-point turn in the middle of the road, directly in front of a garda checkpoint.

"Naturally, we were curious. It didn't take long to find out why."

The driver was stopped by a Laois Roads Policing Unit motorcyclist, after trying to evade the checkpoint.

The individual was arrested at the scene, while the car was impounded and towed away.
