Directions are awaited from the Director of Public Prosecutions in the case against a 30-year-old man charged in relation to an alleged hatchet and spray paint attack on Collins Aerospace in Cork in the early hours of March 30.

Sergeant John Dineen said directions were not yet available in the case and Judge Eamonn Carroll adjourned the case until September 9 for that purpose.

Luke Myers, aged 30, of Maple Rd, Ard Na Greine, Milltown, Co Kerry, who is represented by solicitor Shane Collins-Daly, is charged with causing damage to the premises at Penrose Wharf in Cork on March 30 and being in possession of a hatchet nearby at Ship St, Cork.

Garda John Kerins testified previously: “The external windows, window frames, and doors to the property had been damaged with spray paint as well as having been hacked with hatchets.”

In reply after caution, Mr Myers said: “These actions were an act of protest in order to prevent loss of life as a result of the actions of Collins Aerospace.”

In another case related to two other defendants on a different date at the same premises, Collins Aerospace, books of evidence will be served on June 29.

Their case relates to another alleged hatchet and spray paint attack on Collins Aerospace in Cork as part of a Palestine-related protest on a different date.

Kellie McConnell, aged 27, of Toner House, Sidmonton Place, Bray, Co Wicklow, and Myles Murphy, aged 30, of Ravenswood, Carrigaline, Co Cork, are both charged with committing an offence of burglary contrary to the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001, at Collins Aerospace, Penrose Wharf, Penrose Quay, Cork, on Monday, October 13, 2025.

The particulars of the charge state that having entered a building as trespassers they committed an arrestable offence, to wit criminal damage therein.

  • In a recent report, it was incorrectly reported that Luke Myers faced a charge in relation to the October 13, 2025, incident. He is charged in relation to the alleged incident on March 30 this year only
