Woman extradited from UK held on organised crime charge linked to 2017 gangland murder

The court heard that because the case related to a criminal organisation and a murder, bail in this matter could only be raised in the High Court

A 46-year-old woman has been remanded in custody accused of helping to commission the gangland murder of a father of one in Dublin eight years ago.

Jamie Tighe Ennis, aged 24, of Timberhill Apartments, Artane, suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head at Moatview Avenue, Priorswood, Dublin 17, on October 28, 2017.

Ciara Nolan, with an address in Birmingham, England, but originally from Artane, north Dublin, was extradited from the UK on Wednesday.

She appeared before Judge Treasa Kelly at Dublin District Court on Thursday, charged under section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 with facilitating a criminal organisation in the commission of the murder of Mr Tighe Ennis, between October 27-28, 2017.

Detective Sergeant Domhnall O’Connell told Judge Treasa Kelly that Ms Nolan was arrested at Dublin Airport at 5.40pm and "made no reply" when charged an hour and a half later.

Detective Sergeant O’Connell said that because the case related to a criminal organisation and a murder, bail in this matter could only be raised in the High Court.

As a result, she was automatically remanded in custody to appear again on January 14. Judge Kelly noted that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed "trial on indictment," and that a book of evidence has yet to be served.

She stood, dressed in a black puffer coat, brown tracksuit trousers, and silver shoes, but did not address the court. No plea was indicated.

Defence solicitor Damien Coffey handed in a statement of his client's means, and Judge Kelly held that the accused was a suitable candidate for free legal aid. There was no Garda objection.

Case background

Originally from Darndale, Mr Tighe Ennis was walking home from a nearby pub with a group of friends when he was shot twice by a gunman at around 2.20am. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the 14th victim of the Hutch-Kinahan feud.

A stolen Audi A3 was later found partially burnt out on a green between the Griffith apartments and Prospect Hill in Finglas, approximately 10 kilometres from the shooting.

It emerged last year that gardaí had submitted a second file on the case to the DPP following a development in the investigation. Ms Nolan is the second person to come before the courts in connection with the fatal shooting.

In February 2025, John Farrell, aged 59, of Rialto Cottages, Dublin, appeared before a sitting of Dublin District Court accused of helping a criminal gang by buying a car used in the murder. 

Mr Farrell was charged under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 with enhancing the ability of a criminal organisation by buying and keeping a 2000-reg vehicle between October 13 and 28, 2017.
