€3m worth of suspected drugs found in Dublin vehicle search

Over €3m worth of suspected cocaine and cannabis has been seized by Gardaí in Dublin.

In a statement, gardaí said the drugs were found after they stopped a vehicle in Dolphin’s Barn in Dublin 8 on Tuesday evening.

It, and the driver, were brought to a garda station in south Dublin for searches and it was then around 44kg of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of €3m, was found.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested and is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A follow-up search at a home in Tallaght, Dublin 24, uncovered 10kg of suspected cannabis with an estimated value of €200,000.

Investigations are ongoing and the seized drugs are being analysed by Forensic Science Ireland.
