Gardaí are looking for witnesses to come forward.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate two separate assaults which left a young man and a middle-aged man in a serious condition.

In the most recent incident, a man was found collapsed in the early hours of Sunday morning on a laneway leading to a small estate, just off the main road in Kildare town.

A statement issued by Garda Headquarters said they were looking to speak to anyone in the area who might have seen something suspicious to contact them.

“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault that occurred in Kildare town in the early hours of Sunday, October 26,” it said.

“A male was found unresponsive on McGee Terrace at approximately 3.15am.

“The male, aged in his 20s, was brought to Naas General Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.”

The scene was sealed off for a technical examination.

The laneway is at a junction of the Curragh Rd, opposite the Kildare House Hotel.

The garda statement said they are appealing to anyone with information in relation to the incident to contact them.

“Any road users who were in the area between 2.00am and 4.00am and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 527730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

Second assault

In a second separate incident, gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in relation to a serious assault on a man that happened last Wednesday at a busy north Dublin park.

A statement from Garda HQ said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in Fairview Park, Dublin 3 on Wednesday evening, October 22.

“Gardaí and emergency services responded to a reported assault near Annesley Bridge that occurred shortly after 6.00pm.

“A man, aged in his 50s, was brought to the Mater Hospital and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.”

It said a technical examination of the scene was conducted by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.
