A 58-year-old Cork man who brought a starter pistol home from the UK in the 1980s has now been prosecuted under the Firearms Act, but he claimed it was “along the lines of ornamental”.
Liam McElhinney, who now lives at Old Whitechurch Road, Cork, pleaded guilty to having the revolver and ammunition at the house where he was living four years ago.
